Today is World Book Day!
This is a day where we come together to celebrate books and our favourite stories with others. Many schools and nurseries encourage children to come in wearing fancy dress – this may be of a character of their own choosing, or they might be assigned a book or an author theme.
There are also many ways that you can celebrate World Book Day at home – whether you choose to dress up or not!
Sharing audiobooks
Audiobooks are great for on busy days – they can be played on car journeys, or when you have your hands full with tasks, or even just when you are relaxing on the sofa! There are many free audiobooks available for youngsters, including on Audible - Free Children's Books.
A trip to the library
World Book Day is the perfect day to go on a walk to your local library. See if you can find a book that you have not read before – some libraries have fun workshops for children, too.
Bedtime story
Bedtime stories are a great way to end the day. As well as being a great time to bond, it can help your child foster a love of stories and reading. It is also a fantastic step for supporting a healthy bedtime routine.
There are many other free resources for World Book Day, including workshops, story sessions and activities for older children available via worldbookday.com
