Think about what your toddler can do and the skills they have already mastered
Toddlers (and probably all of us when you think about it) don’t make steady progress. Sometimes you’ll notice they seem to be mastering loads of skills all at once.
Other times, it might seem like there is a bit of a pause and they’re mastering skills more slowly – this is part of learning and sometimes we just need a bit of time and practice.
So, always try to think about the bigger picture and their progress over a couple of months.
Don’t compare (this is really hard!)
We’re all unique and your toddler might master some skills more quickly or slowly than your friends’ children – so try to focus on what your toddler is doing rather than comparing with others.
Trust yourself
This goes along with avoiding comparing – as a parent you’ll see if your child might need a bit of extra support. Remember that every child learns in their own unique way, but if you feel concerned trust your gut feelings and speak to a professional about your concerns.
Find your tribe
Lots of us are trying to ease the pressure on parents – so look for people online and in real life who share a realistic approach to parenting and make you feel better, not worse!
