Hats off! Why your baby taking their hat off is a big thing!

Did you know... your baby taking their hat off marks a big moment in their development? It should be celebrated!  

They’re using their gross motor skills, coordination, proprioception and, perhaps most importantly, building their independence every time they pull off that hat you so lovingly placed on their head a moment before.

Having some sense of agency over their body is such a powerful thing for your baby. As they make the connection between things happening to them and what they feel, they are becoming more aware of their bodies, their surroundings and how they can make choices to keep themselves feeling safe and cosy.
