Dear Zoo – great for bringing out your baby’s inner animal

Dear Zoo is a story about a child who writes to the zoo asking for a pet. The zoo listens to the child and sends them an animal, but is it a pet? Not really, the child sends it back and the zoo sends a new animal, but can you guess what happens? It isn’t really a pet again. Young children will love lifting the flaps to discover the animals the zoo has sent.

This classic book has been enjoyed for decades by babies, school age children and everybody in between. It's great for little hands to explore through the flaps that lift to reveal the different animals in the story. We love that the animals sent by the zoo can create lots of chat about the difference between wild animals and pets.

Dear Zoo introduces a wide variety of animals and is perfect for encouraging young children to sound and act like each animal they discover. From movement to noises, your child will have a ball pretending to be a lion or an elephant.

As well as being fun and interactive, Dear Zoo can support children with their understanding of rhythm and rhyme. Smaller children may enjoy listening to the rhymes in the story, while older children might be able to have a go at finishing the sentences in the story as they grow more confident and familiar with it. Younger children might even enjoy guessing which animals come next.
