Mindfulness:
You might find that your baby is beginning to want to be with you and to be upset when you leave. This is an important step in their development and shows they have a great connection with you.
But it can feel quite intense at times, focusing on your breathing might help you to restore your sense of calm.
You could try 4,5,6, breathing:
1) Take a deep breath in and out through your mouth, try to take the breath right to your stomach.
Peek-a-boo supports:
- The development of turn-taking
- Supports self-confidence
- Develops self-awareness
- Encourages playing alongside others
- Understanding social cues, language and facial expression
When you hear your baby's first giggle, it becomes your family’s collective mission to get as many smiles and laughs from them as you can.
Smiling and laughter demonstrate a leap in your child’s social and emotional development and each action becomes part of their toolbox as a way of communicating with you.
So, enjoy being silly with your baby, as it helps to develop brain connections, their language, and social and emotional skills, as well as building upon your relationship.
Bubbles are a great early lesson in cause and effect (that one event makes another event happen).
Your baby is excited to be able to use their voice – they’ve been practising for a while and their conversational toolkit has been growing. If you hear your baby making deliberate sounds, look at what they’re doing. Your baby will greet you with a big smile, as they will have achieved their goal of catching your attention.
Our vocal tracts are quite fascinating: such a small part of our body produces a major part of our communication.
