As you follow your child’s journey through the app, you will find lots of tips about supporting them as they learn about behavioural expectations and making choices, and as they develop self-regulation. Sometimes it is helpful to remember we are learning and practising with them. You might have days when you feel calm and confident about supporting them and other days when you feel less sure. You may recognise that when you are tired, stressed or anxious, supporting your child is more difficult.
Most importantly of all when we think of behaviour, remember that we are all human. Just like us, our children will have good days, bad days, tired days, and sad days. They will struggle with certain situations or find it hard to understand someone they don’t know well.
So much of what we expect when we talk about behaviour is determined by what we think others will think of us, or how we were raised to behave in certain situations. If you’re feeling anxious about your child’s behaviour, it can help to think that children who can speak up and express their emotions are going to be able to advocate for themselves as adults.
