It's National Bike Week - how can you get involved?
This week we are celebrating National Bike Week.
You can join in the fun in so many ways, here are a few ideas to get you going:
- Encourage your child to ride their bike to nursery or school
- Go on a family bike ride
- Set up a bicycle obstacle course
- Go on a pretend road trip! Maybe go to the park to play this game so you have lots of space. Mark out a bike track using chalk or tape. You could enhance your track by using props for say a forest section, a road section, or a park. Do a lap of your track so your family knows which direction they are driving in. There are endless ways this game can be extended, use your knowledge of riding a bike, or driving a car and let your imagination do the rest.
- Do a bike safety check – find out whether you have all got the right sized bikes and well-fitted helmets.
- Wash your bikes
- Go on a bike spotting hunt. What kind of bikes will you see? Trikes, racing bikes, mountain bikes, motorbikes, exercise bikes...
