Indulging in autumn and soaking up the sun

We are now enjoying the last few weeks of the sun’s warm rays. You may have noticed the sun is sinking lower in the sky and the nights are drawing in. This is a wonderful time of year because nature is flourishing as it prepares for the winter months. The sun is still producing some heat, and while it does it could be worthwhile taking advantage of it.

When the sun shines

On a sunny day, if you have the time, go outside with your family, or even on your own.

Lie on the grass or any suitable surface. You might want to take a blanket.

Close your eyes and try to be still – this may be tricky depending on the age of your children. Snuggling in and cuddling younger children may help you all relax a little more.

Feel the warmth of the sun on your skin and listen to the sounds all around you.

Try to relax.

If your children are fidgety, talk to them about what you can hear. You might be able to compare differences if you manage to get out on more than one occasion.

Listen to the sounds, soak up the sun, feel the grass on your skin and let the breeze gently flow over you.
