Families share what they love the most about reading aloud together

Here at My First Five Years, we are big fans of books, reading, and sharing stories with children. There are many developmental benefits to reading with your child, as well as it helping to build a close relationship between you both.

A recent study that was published by Scholastic looked at the reading habits of families. The study found that reading aloud experiences at home were very positive, with 86% of parents surveyed who had children aged between one and six years old answering that they felt their child liked or loved reading aloud time a lot of the time.

In the same study, 92% of parents felt that reading aloud with their child was special time spent together. Many parents who took part in the study discussed other reasons why they loved reading aloud with their child, with many noting that it felt like an interactive experience, from choosing books together to asking questions during reading times.
