Easy-peasy houmous
Have a go at this easy houmous recipe! Great for picnics and for dunking with flatbread, cucumber or breadsticks.
As with all our recipes, allowing your child to do as much of the process themselves, where appropriate, is key in supporting their learning and development.
So, think about if they can weigh, chop or pour independently, as this is where the real learning comes in!
You will need:
- 400g tinned chickpeas
- Lemon juice
- Tahini
- A clove of garlic (crushed)
- Water
- Olive oil
How to:
- Drain the chickpeas. Save the water from the can to have a go at making taste-safe paint - you can read the recipe in this article.
- Rinse the chickpeas.
- Add the chickpeas, garlic, two tablespoons of the lemon juice, a tablespoon of tahini and four tablespoons of the water to a bowl and mix.
- Transfer this mix to a blender or food processor and blitz until it’s smooth.
- Once blended, it will be ready to eat!
