Welcome to the My First Five Years Blog. Here you will find all sorts of information, ideas and activities that will help you to support your child.
Simply getting some of your favourite foods and having an indoor or outdoor picnic is a perfect time to chat with your child. If you are short on time, simply taking a meal or snack somewhere new can be an exciting adventure. If you have a bit more time, you could have a go at one of these activities:
On your child’s activity page, you’ll find ideas linked to the skills they’re mastering now – so as well as using the play kit don’t forget to check them out.
You have been tracking your child’s fine motor skills in the app, and you’ll know these involve controlling the movements of smaller muscles, such as those in our fingers and toes.
The first thing you need is a selection of books. You could join your local library or find a book exchange to get some new reads.
You might not be thinking about reading yet, if you’re still enjoying a newborn scrunch or wondering if your baby is the only one who wakes up every hour.
If you want to know more about how music and sounds helps your child learn, scroll down to the bottom to find links to our articles.
Our first idea needs nothing other than you, your child and a bit of time!
Pinterest produces an annual trends report,[1] telling businesses the things they expect to take off in the upcoming year. These are often things like colour trends for interiors or weddings, but this year’s report caught our attention because they expect to see parents celebrating ‘inchstones’ and we’re here for that!
