April 2nd - Ramadan begins

Today is the first day of Ramadan!

Ramadan is the Islamic holy month, and is a major event for Muslims all over the world.

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims will fast – meaning that they will not eat and drink between sunrise and sunset. At the end of the day, families will break their fast with their families, which is known as itfar. Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam, alongside faith, prayer, charity and the pilgrimage to Mecca.

This month is a very special time for Muslims. They will often spend this time doing good deeds that support their family, friends and community, as well as spending time focusing on prayer.
