Get the perfect starting point for your child

The first step to finding the perfect activities to support your child’s development is getting their skills journey just right for them. If you haven’t seen any skills your child has mastered in the list we’ve shown you – or if they can do all of them, here’s how to get started.

The skills you’ve shown me are too advanced– my child hasn’t mastered any of these

Follow these steps to tell us where your child’s journey should begin (this looks like lots of steps but only takes five to ten minutes).

  1. Tap the account icon (it looks like a person).
  2. Tap add child.
  3. Put in your child’s details, (add new to their name so you know which is the up-to-date profile).
  4. Tap save.
  5. You will be shown skills from each of the six streams in turn.
  6. If you don’t see skills your child has mastered, go to the bottom and tap ‘Show more skills from this stream’.
  7. Tap this until you see skills you know are second nature for your child. Tick the ones they can do (you don’t need to tap every one your child has mastered, just the first two or three at the point where you can see your child has done everything we’re showing you.)
  8. Tap ‘Next stream’.
  9. Repeat this for each of the streams (there are six), then tap ‘Done’ and we’ll build their journey – this will take a moment or two.
  10. Tap the first profile you created, scroll down, and then tap ‘remove’.
  11. Take ‘new’ off your child’s profile by tapping their profile, then making and saving changes.
  12. Close the menu and start enjoying activities with your child, knowing you’re doing just what they need right now.

Follow these steps to tell us all the skills you’ve already helped your child to master, then we'll show you what's coming next.

  1. Go to your child’s journey page.
  2. Master the skills your child can do already.
  3. Do this for each stream.
  4. Now you can find ideas of things to do with your child, that will support the skills they’ve working on now.

Check your child’s skills journey regularly to make sure the ideas and information on your app are perfect for them.
