What is it? A fun game for encouraging attention

What you need 

• Interesting household objects, like a whisk, a spoon, some material and an egg cup 
• A cardboard box 

What to do 

1. Place the items in the box. 
2. Slowly take out an object, one at time, building the suspense by saying “What is it?” 
3. Make sure your face looks surprised at whatever you have chosen to show your baby.  
4. Notice if your baby looks at you, the object, then back to you again. 
5. Talk about the object to bring their attention to it.  
6. If safe to do so, let them explore the object.
