What to do
- When visiting a relative or friend, encourage your child to share a memory about a recent event. This can be done over a video call if you’re not able to see people face-to-face.
- Start them off by saying, “Do you remember when we went to the zoo? Why don’t you tell Grandma all about it?”
- Listen to how they tell their story and in what order.
- If the story takes a detour, you can help bring it back on track by commenting on something that happened next, or reminding your child of what they have just said.
