What else might we need? Show your baby options
What to try
- Watch what your baby is playing with and comment on what they are doing.
- Suggest other toys or objects that could add to their play. For example, if they are playing with cars you could say, “Shall we get the garage out?” or you could place a box close by and say, “This can be the car park!”
Good to know
Your baby might have their own ideas about what they want to explore as they play; take time to watch so you can see what interests them. They might be playing with cars, but their interest is in the movement of the cars, so giving them some stiff cardboard to make a ramp might be what they need rather than suggesting a car park space.
