Watch it move – hanging toys above your baby so they can see how their hands can make toys move

What you need

  • A baby gym (if you don’t have a baby gym you can tie toys to ribbons and hold them for your baby)
  • Ribbon
  • Toys

What to do

  1. Lie your baby under a baby gym or hang some toys on ribbon and hold these close to their fingertips.
  2. Give your baby time to move their arms and hands so that they can touch and move the objects. They might try to grab the toys or objects.

Good to know

Moving their hands towards them and watching the toys move will help them to link their own movements with the movement of the toys.

Remember to stay close by, as your baby touches objects they might be able to pull them down – so don’t leave them with toys hanging above them.
