Activity Two

Use a balloon, not a ball – a twist on this skill

What you need

  • A balloon

What to do

  1. Show [Joshua] how you lift your foot to kick the balloon.
  2. Put the balloon close to [Joshua's] foot.
  3. Encourage [him:her:them] to lift [his:her:their] foot and kick it.

Be mindful that the balloon might pop, and this might make your toddler feel a bit scared. If you stay with your toddler while they play with the balloon, you can be there to comfort them. We would advise that any popped balloons are discarded immediately.

Good to know

Balloons are lighter than most balls, making this a different experience for your toddler, and it can be great fun watching where they fly off to.
