Treasure trail – interesting items on the ground will encourage your baby to walk

What you need 

• Favourite toys 
• Containers or cardboard boxes 
• A basket 

What to do 

• Set up a little treasure hunt, either inside or outside.  
• Place a few of your baby’s favourite toys and objects spaced out on low level surfaces, such as upside-down storage containers, cardboard boxes, buckets, low stools or chairs.  
• Walk next to your baby with a box or basket and encourage them to pick up an item and pop it in.  
• Give lots of praise to your baby when they take steps forward.
