Touch and feel – giving your baby time to explore textures

What you need 

• Toys and fabrics with different textures  

What to do 

1. When your baby is awake and alert, gently touch their hands with the different toys and fabrics. 
2. Notice how they respond and talk to them about what you are doing: “This is a feather, it is soft. It tickles!” or “Here is some foil. It makes a sound when it moves. Crinkly and crackly.”  
3. You might notice your baby responds more to a certain texture or noise, or responds differently depending on the time of day.
