Tissue box tug – a simple game to develop your baby’s grip
What you need
- A tissue box
- Squares of fabric or napkins
What to do
- Place all the fabric into the box and place it in front of your baby and watch them explore.
- Show them how to pull the fabric out of the tissue box.
- You could have a box each, so your baby can watch you pull tissues from yours.
- If your baby enjoys this game, you could make it more challenging by putting the tissues in with only a tiny piece sticking out, encouraging them to grab with their fingers rather than their whole hand.
Good to know
Varying what you hide in the tissue box – pieces of paper (junk mail is perfect!) or even small blocks – will give them lots of opportunities to practice different ways of grabbing and pulling.
