Time to explore – giving your baby time to look at, touch and move toys and objects

What you need 

• A selection of interesting objects. 

What to do 

1. Put your baby in their preferred position: this could be lying on their tummy, on their back or being held by you. 
2. Arrange some objects close to them, so they can pick them up easily. 
3. Stay close to supervise, make sure your baby is safe and offer reassurance.  
4. Stay quiet but respond if your baby wants to interact with you.  
5. Give them time to explore; this will let them get really focused on learning about the toys and objects.
