What to try
- When you are adjusting to life with a new baby it can be easy to forget about your own needs. Don’t forget that taking time to look after yourself helps you support your baby's development.
- Think about finding some time for you, making sure you’re drinking water, eating regularly and moving gently as often as you can – this could simply be a five-minute walk with your baby.
- Try to avoid comparing your baby’s sleep with others – there is a wide variety of ‘normal’ infant sleep.
Good to know
Their sleep pattern might be erratic at first; a more consistent sleep pattern will emerge as they grow, and this might take longer for some babies than others.
