Tidying together – involving your baby when you put toys away

What you need 

• Time with your baby when play has come to an end 

What to try 

• When it’s time to put your baby’s toys away, chat to them about what you are doing.  
• When you have some time to spend tidying, see if your baby can pick up an object ready for it to be put away.  

Good to know 

Your baby might not help to tidy up yet, but watching and listening as you put toys and objects onto a shelf or in a box will help them to make connections. 

They might not let go of the object, but with lots of practice they will begin to join in with tidying.
