What you need
What to do
- Encourage your toddler to collect toys and put them in the basket when it’s time to finish playing.
- Then carry the basket to where the toys usually live, so your toddler can put them away.
- Don’t expect them to put all their toys in the right places just yet.
- If your toddler isn’t very interested in tidying, try to make it more playful perhaps by playing a song, putting the timer on your phone – or starting a bit sooner so you have time to chat about each toy as you put it away.
Good to know
Collecting their toys into one place, like a basket, is a fantastic way to introduce your toddler to the idea of tidying up, and they might enjoy helping you with putting a few things away from the basket.
