Find a shallow basket and pop in some items for your baby to explore. Provide a mix of objects such as sticks, spoons, containers, musical shakers, kitchen roll tubes, empty egg cartons, fabric, building blocks, a pastry brush, shape sorter pieces, or anything else your baby might find interesting.
Sit near to your baby and leave them to have their own exploratory time. Watch how your baby explores the different items. They will use a lot of skills in this activity, and their brain will be working hard to work out how to pick up, move, and use the objects.
This could be a great time for you to go and get that drink you have been thinking about all day, pop on the kettle and watch as your baby leads their own investigation. Make sure you supervise your baby and check any objects you give them are safe for them to explore.
