That’s the way to do it! Use a puppet to gain your toddler’s attention

What to try 

• Toddlers can easily become totally engrossed in an activity. At this age they won’t be able to move their attention quickly when they are so focused on something. 
• A gentle way of getting their attention is to use a puppet or soft toy.  
• Wiggle the toy while it is in their sight and wait for them to notice. You can make the toy do different actions to gently attract your toddler’s attention.  

Good to know 

Using a toy instead of words can sometimes be a calmer method of gaining attention, especially if there is a lot of background noise or your toddler is very focused.
