Teddy preposition game – can your toddler follow their teddy?
What you need
- A favourite toy
- Furniture
What to do
- Before you start, think about actions your toddler can perform safely.
- Show your toddler their toy.
- Place the toy in a spot they can see and ask your toddler if they can move to that place too.

Here are some ideas for encouraging your toddler to travel around, over and under with their toy:
- Sit the toy on a chair – can your toddler get on the chair too?
- Move the toy under the table – can they travel under and sit with it?
- Move the toy in a circle around a cushion – can your toddler follow their toy?
- Jump the toy onto the sofa and make it travel across the seats – can your toddler get up onto and travel across the sofa?
- Through the tunnel – if you don’t have a tunnel, you can quickly make one by throwing a towel over some chairs or storage boxes. Can your toddler follow their toy through the tunnel?
- Weave around cushions – can your toddler follow their toy as it weaves its way around the cushions? The cushions can be replaced with anything you have handy.
