Supermarket stare – encouraging your baby to look around while you’re on the go

What to try 

• At the supermarket, show your baby what you’re looking at on the shelf. 
• Tell them about what they see: “This melon is yellow. It’s heavy too... I’ll just reach over here and fetch a red pepper.” 

Good to know 

You can turn almost anywhere into an exciting experience for your baby – showing them around the local park or looking around on the bus and talking about what you see will help your baby make connections about their world.  

Sometimes it’s the simple jobs that offer stimulating experiences for your baby. Now that they’re enjoying watching their surroundings, and especially watching you, they’ll joyfully soak it all in.
