What you need
- A low step or kerb (if you’re using a kerb make sure it’s safe for your toddler to step up and down)
What to do
- Explain to your toddler that you are going to play a stepping game.
- When you say, “On,” they need to step onto the step or kerb, and when you say, “Off,” they need to step down again.
- If possible, join in (or get an older child to join in) so your toddler can copy, as well as listening to the instructions.
- At first, pause between saying, “On” and “Off”, but as your toddler becomes more confident leave a shorter gap between instructions.
