Sound detective – supporting your baby as they begin to locate sounds

What you need 

• Objects such as rattles, bells, scrunchy fabrics and wooden sticks 

What to do 

1. Put the objects on the floor at tummy time.  
2. Make noises with the objects to attract the attention of your baby and encourage them to look towards the object.  
3. When they are looking at it, make the noise again so that they can link what they see with what they hear.  

Remember that your baby will explore everything with their mouth, so make sure all the objects that you use are safe for them to put in their mouth.
