Sing a song about you- use your baby’s name in some favourite songs and rhymes
What to try
- When you sing, sometimes change the name in the song, so you are using your baby’s name.
- You could say a rhyme such as, ‘Pat-a-cake' and change the 'baby’ at the end to your baby’s name.
- Be as creative as you like – you could even make up a new song about your baby.
Good to know
Using gestures, such as pointing, when singing will help your baby understand their name. You might point at your baby and then at yourself when singing the last line of ‘Pat-a-cake'.
Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake,
Baker’s man.
Bake me a cake as fast as you can.
Pat it and prick it and mark it with B.
And put it in the oven for baby and me.
