Row, row, row your boat – now you see me, now you don’t

What to do

  1. Introduce singing time while your baby is lying on their back.
  2. You may want to prop your baby on a pillow. Sit facing your baby and hold hands.
  3. Before you start singing, slowly and gently pull your baby into a sitting position and watch their expression.
  4. Gently lower your baby back down again.
  5. If your baby has enjoyed the movement, start singing 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat' the next time you gently pull your baby to a sitting position.

Good to know

When you sing the first line of ‘Row, Row, Row Your Boat’ and slowly pull your baby to a sitting position, if they are enjoying it, sing the second line to the song while they are still in their sitting position. If your baby looks like they were happier in their lying down position, sing the second line as you gently lower your baby back down again.

Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.
