Notice the time of day when reading stories or watching TV  

What to try 

• Point out signs of day and night in your toddler’s books and favourite TV programmes.  
• Talk about how you know it is day or night, and point out similarities with your toddler’s own experiences.  
• If the characters are doing something at an unusual time, such as getting ready to go out at nighttime, comment on it and wonder why they might be choosing to do this.
