What you need
What to do
- Before opening your child’s favourite book, ask them to tell you how it begins.
- Then every few pages pause and see if they can remember the next part of the tale; this will help them to recall and talk about them in the right order.
- Before turning the last page, ask if they can remember how the story ends.
Good to know
Be aware of how your child responds to your pauses, if you stop too often they might lose interest in the story. Over time (and depending on the book!), you'll probably need to pause less as your child becomes more eager to jump in with the next part of the story.
