Focus on fun – playing with your baby without distractions
What to try
- When you have a few moments, and your baby is awake and alert, hold them on your lap where they can see your face clearly.
- Limit, or, if you can, remove other distractions; perhaps turn off the TV or music and put your phone on silent and out of reach so you're not tempted to glance at new message alerts.
- Speak to them about anything – perhaps about your day or what you are going to do next.
- Respond to their movements and any sounds that they make.
- If you can spend 10 minutes or more each day doing this, just to purely focus on each other, it will strengthen your bond and give you some 'being' rather than 'doing' time.
