What to do
- Start by hiding the toy in the same room as you are in, making it easy for them to find.
- Tell your toddler that you are looking for their favourite toy.
- Very playfully say “Where is it?” or “Where has it gone?”
- Encourage your toddler to help you look.
- When they spot it, encourage them to walk over and retrieve it.
- If your toddler enjoys the game, you can play again.
Good to know
This game can gradually be extended to hiding the toy or object in different rooms.
While they are gaining confidence in walking, keep the toys in easy to walk-to places on one level in your home.
