Pass the microphone – I'm about to tell you what I like
What you need
- Two or three toys
- A microphone (if you don’t have one, that’s fine... use a spoon instead!)
What to do
- You go first, hold the microphone and say something that you like. For example, “I like peas.”
- Pass the microphone to a toy and pretend to be the toy, you might say, “I like aliens.”
- Repeat this again with another toy. If you can make your toddler laugh, it might encourage them to have a go.
- You might have a teddy say, “I like honey, it feels funny in my tummy!”
- Pass the microphone to your toddler.
- Give them some time to think about what they might say. You could talk together first so that they have a plan of what to say.
Good to know
Your toddler may need some support; if this is the case, give prompts or speak for them at first. If they just say one word, add a little to what they said, so they might say, “Cat”, and you say, “I like cats!”
