Find a medium-sized ball, this could be a beach ball or a football. Place the ball in a safe place on the floor. Sit your baby on the ball, holding their hands at all times. Gently bounce them up from the ball, provide enough time for your baby to bear weight on their feet, then gently place them back on the ball again. Make sure that the ball hasn’t rolled away while they have been standing. Repeat this for as long as they are enjoying it.
Play a game to encourage your baby to roll over. Lie your baby in their preferred position at the edge of a blanket, this will be either on their tummy or on their back. Lift the edge of the blanket lightly and watch to see if they start to roll over, if your baby seems content, lift the blanket again and continue to gently roll them over.
Lie your baby on their tummy, and gently place your hands around their hips. Sing Row, Row, Row your Boat, and very gently rock your baby backward and forwards to the rhythm of the song. If your baby is comfortable, choose another song to sing and rock along too.
