Out and about – walking, talking and learning about the world
What to try
- When you take your baby for a walk, if they are awake pause sometimes and chat with them about what is around them.
- Think about where your baby is when you go out – a sling or carrier positions your baby close to your face so they can focus on you. As they grow older, they might like to face outwards so they can see the environment they’re in.
- If you have a pram or pushchair, think about having your baby facing you for as long as you can so you can talk to them about what is happening.
Good to know
They might not understand the words you say just yet, but your chats support their brain development and are great for building your bond.
