One handed paper scrunch – play this game to build strength and control

Written by My First Five Years | Nov 23, 2023 3:21:09 PM

What you need

  • A selection of pieces of paper
  • A bucket, box or bowl

What to do

  • Tell your child you’re going to see how many pieces of paper you can scrunch in one minute (or whatever time you choose).
  • Show them how to put one hand behind their back and scrunch a piece of paper with the other.
  • Start a timer and then encourage them to see how many pieces they can scrunch and put into a bucket, box or bowl.
  • When the timer finishes tip the pieces out of the bucket, box or bowl and count how many there are.
  • If your child enjoys the game, try again and see if they can get more.

Good to know

You could play this game with the pieces of paper you’ve cut together while practising using scissors. If you use paper from the recycling, check for staples or sharp edges.
