Notice what your toddler enjoys – set up a play experience that suits their interests

What to do 

• Think about an activity that your toddler is interested in at the moment. It could be dressing up, a treasure basket, playing with a car track, or pretending to be you!
• Go with whatever it is and find some toys or objects that link to their interest.
• Put the toys somewhere your toddler can get them themselves – don't feel like you need to set up a particular game, as they might use the toys in a way you don’t expect!
• Let your toddler discover the toys and watch (ideally with a cup of tea or coffee!) to see how they choose to play.
