Natural acting – how everyday routines can support imaginative play

What to do

  1. Think about a part of the day that your toddler is familiar with, like mealtimes, bedtime, bathtime or nappy changing time; they are likely to create imaginative play based on their experiences.
  2. Provide your toddler with familiar items related to the part of the routine, along with a teddy, doll or action figure.
  3. Sit with them and watch to see if they develop their own play scene.
