Move a bit closer – I’d like to talk, and I think you can’t hear

What to try
Move close to where your toddler is when you’re trying to gain their attention.
If they still don’t hear you, move closer to them.
Get down to their level and look at their face. This helps catch their attention and you can also see when they are ready to listen.
Gently touch their arm or hand if you think your toddler will respond well to touch.
Try to refrain from shouting their name as this might shock them, then they may not be able to concentrate on what it is you’re saying.
