Mirror play – spot body parts in your reflections

What you need 

• A mirror on the wall or a baby-safe mirror you can look at together 

What to do 

• Spend time together looking in a mirror, pointing to and naming body parts.  
• See if your baby can point out body parts in the reflection.  
• You could ask, “Where’s baby’s nose?” and then point to their nose in the mirror. 

Good to know 

Your baby is beginning to understand that the reflection in the mirror is them – but might not quite understand this fully just yet. If your baby finds using their reflection a bit confusing, use a photo of them or another baby or a picture in a book.
