What to try
- Go to a park, library or local toddler group.
- Give your toddler time to watch how people interact when you are out and about.
- Your baby might want to join in, or might simply be interested in watching others for now and seeing how you interact with different people.
- Don’t feel you need to make your toddler interact with other people.
- Giving them time to watch and see you chat to others will help them develop the confidence and skills they need to do this themselves.
Good to know
Your toddler is becoming more aware of how their actions influence other people. They will explore this at home with you, but now might be a good time to find places where they can see more people.
