What you need
- Some small toys or objects that your toddler likes to play with, such as animals, cars, people or trains
- Objects that can create a world for those toys to ‘live’ in, such as boxes, fabric, clothes or toy houses
What to try
- Create a scene for the toys – think about places or items that interest your toddler the most.
- For example, if they love cars then why not create a garage out of a shoebox and add small objects to act as tools and customers. If they love horses, you could do something similar, but call it a stable!
- Encourage your toddler to help you set the scene and then begin to create a story using the toys.
Good to know
This is a great fine motor workout as they move the toys into position within each of the scenes, as well as when they tell the story and adjust the position of the objects. These little worlds will be a great spark for your toddler’s imagination.
