Lie down, look around and share what you see
What you need
- Outdoor space
What to do
- On a nice day, go outside with your baby and both lie on your backs on the grass or a blanket.
- Look up to the sky and comment on what you can see: the clouds, trees, birds or aeroplanes, giving your baby time to say what they can see too.
- Praise your baby when they make a sound. Their sounds are unlikely to be clear at this stage, but you can still give encouragement by saying, “Yes, I can see the clouds moving too!”
Good to know
When chatting to your baby, make eye contact and comment on the things you know interest them. They may not be able to respond yet, but this will help them join in with conversations more when they are ready to do so.
