Let’s carry this together – I think we shall put it here
Your toddler is going to help you move something. This might be an object that doesn’t really need moving, but your toddler won’t know that. Find something in your home or garden that you could carry on your own, but you are going to ask your toddler to help you to move it. Make sure that the object is light enough for your toddler to pick up.
Pretend that the object needs to be moved and invite your toddler to help you to carry it. At first, you walk backward but then slowly turn around so that your toddler starts to walk backward. Walk very slowly, this is a tricky skill for them. When they first start walking backwards, check to see how confident they look. You might turn around again after a few steps. Find a new spot for the item and place it there. Repeat over the next few days and weeks, gradually increasing the number of steps your toddler takes backward.
