Let your imagination run free – making up stories is fun for me!
What you need
- The toys your toddler is playing with
What to do
- When you’re playing, pretend that one of the toys starts talking to your toddler. Be its voice.
- Say “Hello” to your toddler in the toy’s voice.
- If they like the toy talking to them, carry on chatting.
- Make up a story or have a conversation that uses lots of describing words.
- Encourage your toddler to use describing words, too.
Good to know
The conversation can carry on for as long as your toddler is interested. Try to balance the conversation so that you don’t ask too many questions.
Try saying things like, “I see you like cars. I like this red one and I like this blue one, too.”
